Venus Retrograde Season 2021- 2022

Our beautiful Goddess of love & abundance Venus entered stoic Capricorn on November 5, 2021.
This time around it will be a longer-than-usual stay since Venus is going to retrograde in this goal-oriented, disciplined sign from December 19, 2021 till January 29, 2022. She will finally leave Capricorn on March 6, 2022 to enter freedom loving, eccentric Aquarius.

Journey through Capricorn

Venus in Capricorn absorbs qualities of this Saturn ruled sign with a dose of caution.
Venus rules over love, abundance, gourmet food, art, fashion, and partnerships of all kinds. She is the ultimate pleasure seeker. Capricorn, however, is known for being rather strict when it comes to any frivolities.

This sign is channeling Saturnian energies and is all about hard work, dedication and using money and other resources carefully and not wastefully. To cut a long story short, Venus is feeling rather constrained in Capricorn.

Venus turns retrograde in the same sign roughly every 8 years. Last time it was retrograde in Capricorn was December 2013. Look back at what was happening during that period in your life. You might be having similar themes activated this time around.

The shadow period starts when Venus hits 11 degree of Capricorn. She will travel all the way to 26 degree and then go back to 11 degree, and move back to 26 again to finish off her retrograde journey.

Saturnian Lessons

Capricorn is the sign that doesn’t like to show emotions. Emotions are perceived as an obstacle on the way to success and tend to be shut down almost immediately. It is all about self-discipline and control. Venus, on the other hand, is all about our relating to others and takes a great care and affection when it comes to developing close bonds with people in our lives.

It may seem like a value conflict at first glance, but Venus is learning a valuable lesson from Capricorn and its ruler Saturn about building firm personal boundaries. It cultivates the ability to assess interpersonal relations in a sober, realistic manner.

Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to say a firm ‘no‘ to projects, people, situations that no longer serve our highest good.

Venus is certainly becoming the centre of attention. She is the ruler of Uranus in Taurus and will soon become the ruler of the North Node when it enters Taurus on December 22, 2021. Spending time in Capricorn can really help our beautiful Goddess toughen up and get ready to take more responsibilities on board.

Dos and Donts of Venus Retrograde Season 2021 – 2022

Traditionally, retrograde periods are all about re-visiting, re-organizing and re-evaluating certain areas of our lives. Venus rules over relationships, both romantic and business partnerships, gourmet food, material possessions, finer things in life, things that we enjoy the most.

During this retrograde period, you might be having some emotional and/or financial issues that will take the centre stage.

Venus is the planet of love, beauty, and abundance. During its retrograde, it’s not advisable to make any drastic changes to your appearance. That includes plastic surgery and any other invasive procedures. It may not be a good idea to drastically change your entire wardrobe or hair colour. You might really regret it by the time the retrograde is over.

Dispositor of Venus this time around is Saturn in Aquarius, which is all about your friends and social groups you belong to, including your social media connections. You might feel the need to re-evaluate some of your friendships and connection and to decide if you want to keep them in your life or perhaps it’s time to let them go for good.

What Does It Actually Mean when a Planet Goes Retrograde?

Retrograde motion is when a planet appears to go backwards in its orbit, when observed from Earth. Astronomers refer to this as “apparent retrograde motion,” because it is just an optical illusion.

In Astrology, the significance of planets’ retrograde periods is much deeper and more meaningful than just an apparent motion.

Retrograde periods are fairly rare occurrences. Most of the planets are moving direct most of the time, therefore direct motion becomes ‘normal’. Retrograde motion therefore becomes somewhat of an exception to the rule.

All planets (apart from the Sun and the Moon) have retrograde periods. So why retrograde seasons are so dreaded in the astrological community? The main reason is that they always bring some confusion and push us to rethink, re-evaluate and restructure certain areas of our lives.

More often than not, planet’s retrograde is here to teach us an important lesson on a collective and individual level. Retrogrades should not be feared. They are important periods of reflection on areas of life ruled by the planet that happens to be in retrograde motion. It’s really beneficial to learn about retrograde periods to ensure you align with their flow in the most productive way possible.

Is Your Ex Coming Back this Time Around?

Venus retrograde is traditionally associated with the return of the Exes… If you haven’t heard from any of your exes during Mercury retrograde in Libra, be sure that you might just have someone trying to be back in your life during this Venus retrograde season. Saturn rules over your ex partners, ex work colleagues, etc.Bear in mind that it isn’t always a good thing… This may be a test from the Universe to see if you learnt the lesson and are ready to move on to bigger and better things.

Is Our Love Life Doomed during Venus Retrograde Season?

It is a common belief that starting any kind of relationship during Venus retrograde is not a good idea as it will fizzle away as quickly as it started.

I personally disagree with this statement. I personally know several long-term couples who started their romantic relationship during Venus retrograde and they are still very much together and in love. The most important thing during this time is not to rush things, especially this season, as Venus is retrograding in Capricorn.
Take things slowly, take your time to get to know your potential partner. Remember Saturn’s motto: slow but steady wins the race. It certainly relates to our love lives during this Venus retro season.

Venus — Pluto Dance

During its retrograde in Capricorn, Venus will have two meetings with powerful Pluto (she will have three conjunctions during her journey through Capricorn, first one happening on Fri December 10 before she goes retro on December 19). She is going to start her retrograde journey with the tight conjunction with the Lord of the Underworld at 26 degrees of Capricorn.

These encounters can cause some serious power struggles in both romantic and business partnerships. Close contact with Pluto can escalate negative emotions like jealousy, envy, obsession, and cause some major trust issues within a relationship.

As mentioned earlier, one of the major lessons of this retrograde is to learn how to develop firm personal boundaries. You might want to step aside for a bit and examine the situation from afar. Try not to rush anything when it comes to ending a certain relationship. Re-examine, re-evaluate, re-structure. Perhaps you just need to have some space and have a little break instead of cutting things off completely.

It can be a great time to visit a trusted therapist to discuss and heal any issues regarding forming and maintaining healthy partnerships with others. Pluto is all about transformation, death, and rebirth. Its prominent influence on the planet of love can be really beneficial in healing any personal traumas that might be stopping you from having fulfilling relationships.

The Cosmic Takeaway

Capricorn is an ultimate workaholic. Working 24/7 is a norm for this goal-oriented, success driven, highly disciplined sign. Make sure not to overwork yourself during this time. Self-care is really important to ensure you don’t get burnt out easily. There is no harm in indulging in some Venusian activities when feeling exhausted and tired.

Run a bubble bath, have a nice, romantic dinner with your partner, go to an art gallery or a music concert to activate your senses and stimulate creative flow. Don’t get too fixated just on work and day-to-day duties and responsibilities.

Venus in Capricorn might not be the most exciting placement for Venus for sure, but it can certainly teach us few important lessons when it comes to managing our relationships and resources.

Use this time wisely! And remember, Saturnian lessons may be really hard but they can help us achieve long-lasting, solid results that even greater benefic Jupiter can’t always grant us.
